
Explore Roman remains in Salona
Salona became a Roman colony in 33BC during Augustus’ reign, and in 170 AD it was a capital of Dalmatia. The remains of this glorious Roman city can be found today only 7 km away from the Split Town Center. Walk along the carved Roman sarcophagi and remnants of majestic entry gates.
Rent a scooter and drive yourself to Salona, an ancient Roman settlement located close to the today city Solin, just 10 minutes from Split on the way to the airport.


You can also visit a New Antiquities Stone Park that is only 5 minutes drive away from Salona. Located in the pine forest, New Antiquities Stone Park is known by the stone sculptures made by the local sculptor Ivan Tokić.
After a walk among the Roman ruins of Salona and a visit to New Antiquities Stone Park, hop on you scooter and drive yourself to Solin, a dazzling little city with green meadow and river Jadro. Take a break and sit for a coffee, enjoy the sounds of river Jadro and its inhabitants – duck and swans and soak up the sun.
